Engagement is a day set aside for the payment of bride price by the husband to be, to his prospective in-law. It is often referred to as the traditional marriage. It usually takes place before the 'white garment marriage proper. It can come up a week, a day or some hours before the wedding. Marriage is believed to be instituted for the following reasons: companionship, guard against lust, and for procreation. The devil is fighting vigorously to destroy home because it is the bedrock of the church and society. Divorce rate is on the increase and many innocent have fallen victims. This is because many homes started on faulty foundations. Jesus Christ is the foundation of the Church, just as marriage is the foundation of the home. The Bible is the foundation for spiritual growth, while the constitution remains the foundation of the government. The Psalmist says "if the foundation is destroyed, what can the righteous do?" (Ps 11:3). The family that is founded on Christ, it's foundation can never collapse.
